FAQS

• HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

KLP photographed the first wedding in 2006, started full force in 2008, and we have been photographing love stories non-stop ever since!

• HOW MANY WEDDINGS A YEAR DO YOU TAKE?

We will close off our calendar at 15 weddings. We prefer to provide exceptional service and a personal experience for each wedding couple, which means we choose not to accept multiple back-to-back weddings per weekend. By doing this, we are not limiting ourselves, rather we are allowing ourselves to fully commit to each and every client we have. This makes our calendar book up FAST!

• DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, and we are happy to provide a certificate of insurance to your venue upon request.

• WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

In our contract, we state to allow 4-6 weeks to receive all of your finished images. Though this can fluctuate to be much sooner than that, too. If you purchased an album, we will begin the design of your first proof right after we have released the online gallery to you, in order to expedite the album design process for you. Most couples will have their albums within 3 months from their date, though this is highly dependent on your design requests and length of time to submit approval.

• WHAT'S A FIRST LOOK AND DO I NEED ONE?

A first look is simply a choice to see each other before the ceremony, and have the flexibility and freedom to take all of your wedding party and/or family photos ahead of time. We highly encourage a first look if your ceremony and reception are taking place at the same venue. This will allow you more time for your important photos, and to enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests. If you have a good amount of time between your ceremony and reception, this is not necessary.

• DO YOU TAKE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS?

Absolutely! In fact, an engagement session is one of the biggest recommendations we want you to consider when hiring your wedding photographer. Besides getting killer images of the two of you, the engagement session is more important than that. This is the time to start building the relationship with your photographer, learn about the process, become comfortable in front of the camera and with your photographer, and know what to expect for your wedding day. Having an engagement session yields superior wedding day images! Please note, engagement sessions can only take place on weekdays (except for out of state clients).

• WHY DO YOU USE FILM?

Our style is romantic and natural, while aesthetically soft and dreamy. Film achieves the results we are looking for in our fine art portraits. Besides that magical quality of exposing an image on a negative and waiting for it to be developed into a tangible photograph, it possesses even more magic in the way it renders light. Simply, film creates the images we love. In the actual process of shooting film, we are able to be fully present and in the moment with you, without being conflicted with looking at the image on the back of the camera. In addition, film photographers are automatically guaranteed to be expert image makers. We have to get it exactly right in camera, which means there is a great amount of knowledge and experience required. Basically, film photographers really know and understand their craft, whereas digital photographers can rely on looking at their images instantly to correct it.

• SO THEN WHY DO YOU SHOOT BOTH FILM & DIGITAL FORMATS?

We are able to understand and appreciate each format for its greatest strengths, and use them appropriately. Film is fantastic for our fine art portraits and details, and especially when there is an abundance of natural light. However, digital cameras are great for the faster paced scenarios and low lit scenes. We love to use our digital cameras in dark churches and indoor receptions because often those moments are going so fast, we don’t want to miss a beat.

• WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We use a Contax 645 (medium format film camera) with a couple lenses, a Canon EOS 1V (35mm film), as well as a ton of digital Canon gear including a 5dMIV and backup, with a range of Canon pro-series lenses, multiple flashes and other lighting equipment, tons of film and memory cards, and more. It’s a HEAVY bag.

• DO YOU TRAVEL?

Certainly! We have traveled to amazing destinations to photograph love including Paris, London, Jamaica, Hawaii, the Dominican Republic, and more. We customize each quote so you don’t need to worry about additional expenses afterwards.

• HOW DO I ORDER PRINTS?

When your images are completed, they are hosted in a private online gallery for easy viewing and ordering. You can share this link with your guests for them to place orders, as well as place orders for yourself.

• WHO IS ON YOUR TEAM?

We have worked with several professional independent photographers since the birth of our company. These talented pros have been trained in style to shoot in a consistent manner to the KLP look. Our second shooters have been with us happily for years. We also work with an assistant to help carry bags and expedite our process to make it more efficient for you. It’s also not so bad to have a personal assistant to carry our bags AND your wedding gown train.
